2010: Studying for an Access to HE Diploma (Combined Studies), Gloucestershire College

I left full-time education with one AS Level and became a buyer with a national retailer, following that I established a successful purchasing consultancy. I enjoyed my career, but after seven years decided that I wanted to give university a try. I was advised to take an Access to HE course as an entry route and am currently in the final few weeks of my Access studies at Gloucestershire College.

The Access to HE course has prepared me well for university and has been geared towards developing the skills needed for a degree course. The work is challenging, but manageable, and the tutors help me plan my work effectively.

I was delighted to discover that the Access to HE qualification is accepted by so many UK universities. I've now got three offers to study Economics, and I hope to study options in Politics too. One of my tutors is even joining me on a visit to the University of Exeter's open day, to help me decide if I want to accept an offer to study there.

The Access to HE qualification has opened up a world of opportunities for me. With a bit of determination, I know I can make the very most of the choices on offer.
